ITOC key roles are filled by faculty and staff from across U-M’s schools and colleges.
ITOC members offer feedback to the Provost’s Office regarding campus health and safety resources; U-M policies related to international travel; U-M communications regarding health, safety, and security risks; and emergency assistance during events that affect multiple U-M units.
ITOC members monitor countries that have higher levels of risk and make recommendations to the Provost’s Office regarding University Travel Warning and Restriction destinations. The committee meets at least once per year to discuss health, safety, and security trends in international destinations and potential changes to the U-M Travel Designations (risk ratings) list.
The ITOC also reviews U-M Travel Designations on an iterative basis using a variety of sources, including: US Department of State Travel Advisories, CDC Travel Notices, other non-U.S. government advisories, and U-M’s assistance provider’s risk ratings.
The ITOC reviews safety plans for individual and group travel. The committee communicates iteratively to review plans and meets once per year to review the process. The current Safety Plan / Travel Health Plan review process is as follows:
